With aging and with the effect of gravitational forces, eyebrows start to sag and may cause folds to form above the upper eye lid. This might cause the person to look aged and tired. With the eyebrow lifting, eyebrows would be moved back to where they should to be and if necessary, it is also possible to make the patient look younger with an aesthetic operation on the upper eyelid. The most definite and permanent solution for giving a form to eyebrows is surgery. Botox can be applied to patients who do not want to undergo surgery. However the effect obtained with Botox would be temporary and the eyebrow would return to its original form after a few months. Eyebrow lifting operations can be divided into two groups, namely: elevation methods and endoscopic eyebrow lifting. With the elevation method, the patient is given local anesthesia and a 0.5 cm incision is made into the hairy skin and the eyebrow would be elevated using special stitches. The most important complication that might be observed with this method is the possibility of the eyebrows to move back to their original positions. With the endoscopic method, 2-3 cm incision is made into the hairy skin and the surgeon frees the eyebrow from the bone using endoscopic tools and elevates the eyebrow to the desired level and fixes it there. This operation is carried out under general or local anesthesia along with sedation. Bruises and swellings might occur around the eyes after the surgery. |
