Recurrent weight gains and losses, pregnancy-lactation, advanced age and gravitational forces might cause your breasts look baggy as if emptied. With the aesthetic breast lifting surgery, sagged breast tissue can be reshaped and nipples that look downwards would be moved to where they should be.
The operation is carried out under general anesthesia. During the operation, breast tissue is elevated in a manner to provide fullness in the upper part of the breast and the sagged nipples looking downwards would be placed where they need to be and excess sagged skin would be removed. Post-operational period is usually goes without any problem and the patient is recommended to rest for 4-5 days and to wear sports bra for 6 weeks and to avoid rigorous sports activities for 3 months. In early days of the post-surgery period, bruises and swellings on the breast and temporary numbness may be seen on the nipple. These would heal on their own.
If there is also volume loss together with sagging of the breast, then breast enlargement (breasts prosthesis) operation at the same time with breast lifting may be recommended.
Depending on the technique applied, incision scar may remain around the nipple. There can also be a vertical scar from under the nipple to the lower part of the breast and in some patients there can be a scar on the lower folding of the breast. Scars remain in all breast lifting operations but in time these scars become barely visible. We recommend the patients to use special creams for 2-3 months and to support the stitch line with certain types of band-aids in order to speed up the process for scars to become less visible.
